Odisha Govt orders Crime Branch Probe into Rayagada DWO Suicide Case

Rayagada, Feb 18: Under pressure, the Odisha government has ordered a crime branch probe into the death of Rayagada Welfare Officer (DWO) Dhaneswar Prusty, who reportedly committed suicide inside his office on Monday.

The suicide note recovered from the spot has been sent to forensic laboratory. This could put some light into the case.

The move came after Kamini Sahu, wife of the deceased Prusty, lodged a police complaint alleging the district collector and other staff were responsible for his husbands death.

She alleged that her husband was under mental stress and he was humiliated by the higher authorities including the district collector, project administrator, integrated tribal development agency during the review meetings. He had also approached the district collector for the harassment and worst behaviour towards him, but he did not take up the matter.
