Jitan Ram Manjhi resigns as Bihar CM ahead of Trust Vote

Patna, Feb 20: In a big development in Bihar political crisis today, chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi tendered his resignation ahead of the floor test recommending the dissolution of the state assembly.

He will address the press conference shortly to formally announce his resignation.

This move paved a way for JDU leader Nitish Kumar to be the chief minister of Bihar.

Now, the final decision will be taken by the Governor, who has only two options. Either, he will accept the recommendation of Manjhi and dissolve the House, or he will invite Nitish Kumar to form the next government.

Manjhi, who was looking confident to stay in power with the support of rebel MLAs and BJP members, failed to garner support for trust vote. Ahead of the floor test he admitted his loss.
