Nitish to take oath as Bihar CM for Fourth Time on Feb 22

Patna, Feb 20: Following the surprise move of the expelled JDU leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, who resigned today as the Bihar chief minister ahead of the trust, Governor KN Tripathy invited senior JDU leader Nitish Kumar to form the government. Nitish will take the oath as the chief minister for fourth time on Feb 22.

His dramatic come back to power embarrassed BJP that had promised to support Majhi during the floor test scheduled today. However, with his resignation, the House was adjourned sine die.

Nitish has been given three weeks time to prove majority after taking the oath as the CM of the state. He claims that he has 130 MLAs to vote in favour of him.

Last week, Nitish was elected as the leader of legislature party replacing Manjhi. The party had asked Manjhi to quit. However, he was later expelled from the party for refusing to step down as the CM of the state.

The defiant Manjhi claimed that he had support of MLAs to prove his majority in the House. BJP had also agreed to extend their support during the trust vote. However, he resigned just ahead of the floor test.
