Petroleum Ministry Document Leakage: Five More Arrested

New Delhi, Feb 21: The Corporate espionage case took serious turn with the arrest of five more spies in the racket. With the latest development, the number of arrested people reached at 12.

According to reports, the accused were involved in the entire racket for leaking the confidential documents to the oil companies, which were influencing the government's policy decisions.

The racket is believed to have been spread not only to the Petroleum ministry but also to the other major departments including finance, coal and power. This came to light ahead of the budget session of the Parliament.

The Delhi police crime branch have started probe into the matter taking accused into custody including a former journalist Santanu Saikia, who is now an energy consultant running a petro web portal, Prayas Jain, another energy consultant, two oil ministry officials, and three middlemen. 

Yesterday night, police arrested five more senior officials of corporate sectors in connection with the case. They were RIL corporate affairs manager Shailesh Saxena, Jubilant Energy senior executive Subash Chandra, Reliance ADAG DGM Rishi Anand, Essar DGM Vinay and Cairns India GM KK Naik.
