Srinagar, Feb 21: Ending two months of talks between BJP and PDP over the formation of the government in Jammu and Kashmir, both the political parties have reached the agreement on the issues of Article 370 and Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
According to reports, PDP seems to have been assured on the issue of Article 370 and AFSPA. The Party chief Mehbooba Mufti had demanded a written assurance from the BJP that the article 370 will not be revoked and the position of the state in the Indian constitution will be maintained.
Further, both the parties have found a formula to deal with the issue of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) that the military deployment in the state will be reduced gradually. The army will be replaced by the state police in the areas after reviewing the situation. If the security in the sensitive areas will be improved, the army will not be deployed in those areas.
