Delhi Assembly gets Ram Niwas Goel as New Speaker

New Delhi, Feb 23: AAP legislator from Shahdara constituency was elected as the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly. The elected members of the House chose Bandana Kumari as the Deputy Speaker.

Goel, 67, was elected to assembly in the recent polls from Shahdara constituency in north Delhi defeating Jitender Singh of BJP by a margin of over 11000 votes.

Similarly, Bandana Kumari, 47, is the legislator from Shalimar Bagh assembly seat. She won the polls defeating Rekha Gupta of BJP by a margin of 10978 votes. She is also the President of the women's wing of the AAP.
