Jaipur, Feb 24: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has drawn the attention of the Christian community and other political parties by targeting Mother Teresa in his latest speech during his tour to Rajasthan. He raised suspicion on her service to poor and destitute by alleging that her aim was to convert them to Christianity.
Inaugurating an orphanage and Mahila Sadan in Bharatpur on Monday, Bhagwat said that people of this organisation will not serve the poor women and orphan children like the missionaries and the services done by Mother Teresa.
Alleging the Mother, he said that her aim was to convert the poor and destitute to Christianity by influencing them by her service. "However, nothing will happen here, in this country the social service means selfless, no mischievous intention", he said addressing the Sangh workers and locals at the event that was also attended by several BJP leaders including Tourism Minister Krishnendra Kaur Deepa, BJP state vice-president Bhajanlal Sharma, and MP Bahadur Koli.
His statement sparked criticism by the Congress leaders and several missionaries. They alleged Bhagwat of attempting to spread negativity in the country in the name of social service.
