News

New Delhi, Feb 24: In a sudden move, economist Rajendra Pachauri has resigned from his post as the chairman of UN panel on climate change after his colleague brought an allegation of sexual harassment against him.

According to reports, the female colleague of Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) alleged that Pachauri had been sexually harassing her sending her emails, test messages and WhatsApp messages.

However, Pachauri denied the allegations.

He stepped down just ahead of the months when he was to attend a summit on global warming in Paris in December.

He was appointed as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change (IPCC) of UN twice in 2002 and again in 2008. His term was to end in October this year.
