Itishree Pradhan Murder Case: CBI begins Probe, Team arrive in Rayagada

Rayagada, Feb 25: The SIT of CBI began the probe into the sensational murder case of teacher Itishree Pradhan following the Supreme Court order. The investigation began after seven-member team led by CBI SIT Inspector RD Sharma arrived here yesterday.

Today, other team members including CBI SP BK Singh and DSP MK Pathak arrived here to probe the case.

The team visited the Tikiri Upper Primary School, where Itishree was the teacher, and collected information.

Very soon, people in connection with the case will be summoned for the interrogation.

Itishree was set on fire inside her room at the school premises on Oct 27, 2013, in Rayagada. She was almost 90% burnt. She succumbed to injuries at the Care Hospital in Vizag on Nov 1.

The incident had sparked state-wide protests demanding the arrest of the real culprits in the case. The state government had faced criticism for the slow progress of the case.

Under pressure, the government had ordered a crime branch probe into the matter. However, no accused were arrested even more than a year after the incident.

Later, the Supreme Court ordered a CBI probe into case following a writ petition was filed by Sudipta Lenka.
