Veteran Odia Actor-Director Gopal Dash No More

Cuttack, Feb 27: Veteran Odia actor and director Gopal Dash is no more. He passed away at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack following prolonged illness. He was 95. His demise created a vacuum in the Odia cinema industry.

Gopal Dash breathed his last this morning. Following the news aired people from Ollywood industry, his friends and relatives rushed to his residence here to pay last respect to the soul.

He was an actor, documentary filmmaker and director. The films including Gaon Jhia, Sri Loknath, Bhai Bhauja, Ghara Sansara, Amar Prem had given him recognition in the industry.

He had received President Award for Sri Jagannath in 1960. He was also honoured with Odisha Living legend Award for contribution to film industry till 2014.
