New Delhi, March 03: Senior Congress Mani Shankar Aiyar made a shocking statement today by saying that the execution of Afzal Guru, convict in 2003 Parliament attack, was injustice.
By giving such opinion, it made it clear that he did not trust the judiciary system of India and respect the Supreme Court order. Even he could be targeted by his own partymen for such statement as Guru was hanged during the Congress regime.
Talking to media, he said that there was no evidence was against Guru that he was a terrorist, but he was hanged and it was unjust.
He also backed the PDP that yesterday demanded to return the remains of Guru to Kashmir and his family. He said that the remains of Guru should be returned to Kashmir.
Reacting to the statement, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that Guru was a traitor. BY making such statement in favour of an anti-national, the Congress leader was insulting the Parliament, the Supreme Court and the democracy.
The politics began over the hanging of Guru just a day after PDP-BJP alliance formed the government in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. However, the Centre has dissociated itself from such statement and made it clear that the demand of the PDP cannot be considered.
Guru was hanged on February 9, 2013 inside Tihar Jail. He was the mastermind behind the Parliament attack that had shaken the entire nation in 2003.
