Nagaland: Rape Accused dragged out of Jail by Mob, lynched

Nagaland, March 06: In a big shocking incident in Nagaland, a rape accused was dragged out of the jail by a mob and later he was lynched. This sparked tension in the region and curfew was imposed to control the situation.

According to reports, a mob raided the Dimapur Central Jail on Thursday afternoon, dragged out a rape accused and punished him. He was tied and dragged for 7 km, the angry people beat him up and later he succumbed to his injuries. The accused was alleged to be a Bangladeshi infiltrator.

The victim, 35, Syed Farid Khan, was accused of raping a college girl on Feb 24. The state has witnessed a series of violence and agitations over the issue of illegal immigrants in the past weeks. The recent incident triggered violence against the Bangladeshi immigrants in the state.
