17 Migrant Labourers rescued in Bolangir

Bolangir, March 10: A total of 17 migrant labourers were rescued by police on Tuesday from a bus travelling to Berhampur from Padmapur in Bolangir district.

The rescued labourers are from Baghala Bandha village under Belpada block of Patnagarh in Bolangir district. They were detained to get more information about the contractor or agent, who is behind the supply of labourers to other places.

Police reached the spot acting on a tip-off and stopped the bus that was carrying the migrant labourers to Berhampur for job.

Earlier, the Bolangir police had rescued 51 migrant labourers on Dec 17 in the district.

The latest development proved that a big agent is working in supplying migrant labourers from the area to other places of Odisha and outside the state alluring them of jobs.
