Niali RTI Activist Murder: Prime Accused arrested

Cuttack, March 13: Odisha crime branch arrested the prime accused in the murder case of Niali RTI activist, over a month after he was killed for exercising his right to get information on the irregularities government money and fertilizer in the plantation of paddy saplings.

Police arrested the accused Kartika Pani, who was absconding after killing the RTI activist Krupasindhu Sahu (40) on January 26, in Nachhigan.

Krupasindhu was killed for seeking information from the district agriculture officer about the utilisation of money and fertiliser in the plantation of paddy saplings in his village Nachhigan.

He went missing on January 26. His bike was found after two days. Later, his family members lodged a complaint with the Niali police station after they failed to search the victim.

Acting on the complaint, police started search and recovered the body of the deceased, who was buried under a banyan tree on January 31.
