Congress Workers-Police clash in New Delhi against Land Acquisition Bill

New Delhi, March 16: The protest over the controversial land acquisition bill turned violent when the Congress workers clashed with the police in New Delhi today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will face tough days ahead due to this bill as the Congress and others are not in mood to back the law.

The clash erupted after the youth congress workers staged a protest against the land bill at Jantar Mantar in the national capital. After the situation went out of control, police resorted to water cannons and lathicharge on the protesters to disperse the crowd. The protest is still on.

Last week, the bill was passed by voice votes with nine amendments to it in Lok Sabha. However, it will be tough for the government to clear the bill in the Rajya Sabha where the BJP is in a minority position.
