Bhubaneswar to have Pre-paid Auto Service from March 22

Bhubaneswar, March 17: Now pre-paid auto service will be rolled out in Odisha capital like all the metro cities in India to provide a safe travel to the passengers. The service will start from March 22. The initiative may help curbing the criminal activities by the auto drivers in the city.

The 24x7 pre-paid auto service will be available at the main railway station, main bus stand at Baramunda, Patia Square to provide hassle-free service to the customers in Bhubaneswar.

Initially, 150 autos will be operated at the railway station, 100 at Baramunda bus stand, and 100 at Patia square.

The fare will be Rs 30 for first two km, after that Rs 10 charges will be added to the main fare per km. If a passenger will hire a pre-paid auto for the distance more than 20 km, the fare will be Rs 8 per km after the first 20 km charges.

However, the fare will be higher during night time. Between 11 am and 5 am, the charges will be Rs 50 for first two km. After that the charges will be 30% higher.

In the pre-paid auto service, the passenger will have to make payment at the counter without bargain. They will be dropped within one km radius of the destination. The driver can get his payment after producing a receipt at the counter after dropping the passenger at his destination.

As per the law, the auto driver has to submit a copy of the RC book of the auto, his permanent address, photo, driving licence to the RTO office.

The service will be soon available at the Biju Patnaik International airport.
