Saina to be awarded Cash Prize by BAI for Performance in Badminton

New Delhi, March 17: Indian badminton ace badminton Saina Nehwal, who celebrates her 25th Birthday today, got an unexpected birthday present from Badminton Association of India (BAI).

BAI today announced that they would be giving cash prize of Rs.5 lakh each to Indian badminton players P Kashyap and Saina Nehwal for their impressive performance on the International stage.

Kashyap had won gold medal for India in 2014 Commonwealth Games, while Saina who is currently ranked 2 in world rankings, became the first Indian woman in history to reach All England Open finals earlier this month.

Both Saina and Kashyap had won the Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold event held in Lucknow this January.

BAI had earlier today also announced a similar cash reward for Swiss Open winner Kidambi Srikanth.
