Lawyer for Osama's Doctor killed in Pakistan

Peshawar, March 18: A former lawyer for the doctor, who had played a key role in finding Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, was killed in the north-western city of Peshawar in Pakistan.

Samiullah Afridi was killed by some unidentified gunmen while he was coming to home by car. Two Taliban groups have claimed the responsibility for the killing.

He was the lawyer for the doctor Shakil Afridi, who had helped the US collecting the DNA samples of Osama at the campus of the building where the most wanted terrorist was staying with his wives and children.

The lawyer had left Pakistan after the US commando operation to kill Osama. His life was under threat of the militants. He returned to the country last year and denied to work for the doctor, who was fighting against a 33-year sentence. Dr. Shakil Afridi was accused of helping the Lashkar-e-Islam militant group in the Khyber region.

However, the fact was that he was sentenced for helping the US in their hunt operation for Osama in Pakistan.
