Hansda allowed to attend Lok Sabha for One Day

Cuttack, March 19: In a partial relief to suspended BJD MP Ramchandra Hansda, the Orissa High Court on Thursday allowed him to attend the ongoing Budget session for a day to retain his membership. He is currently lodged in Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar since his arrest in connection with the Nabadiganta chit fund scam.

As per the court order, Hansda will attend the Lok Sabha session for a day and later he will remain in the custody of the CBI by March 23. He will go to the Parliament in the custody of the Lok Sabha security officer.

After attending the session, Hansda will be handed over back to the CBI that will produce him in the CBI court in Bhubaneswar by March 23.

The Mayurbhanj MP had approached the high court seeking permission to attend the parliament to retain his membership. According to the law, the membership will be cancelled if the member remains absent from its sitting for 60 days.
