PM Modi remembers Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev on Martyrs Day

New Delhi, March 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted three brave heroes of India Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar remembering their sacrifice for the freedom of the nation, on the martyrs day today.

The great heroes of the nation will always be remembered to each generation for their dauntlessness, chivalry and patriotism. The three, who had shaken the British Empire and forced the British queen to think that India was no weaker, were hanged in Lahore jail on this day in 1931. Their bodies were cremated at the banks of the Sutlej River.

Taking to twitter Modi paid his tributes to these great patriots, who sacrificed their lives for the country.

Today India is celebrating the martyrs day at National Martyrs Memorial in the Hussainiwala (Indo-Pak border) in Ferozepur.

Along with Modi, many political leaders also paid homage to these three freedom fighters.

West Bengal Chief Minsiter Mamata Banerjee tweeted, "Salutes to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru on their death anniversary. Hope their martyrdom continues to inspire generations to come".

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh wrote, "I salute ShivaramRajguru, SukhdevThapar&Bhagat Singh on their Death Anniversary".

BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain, said on Twitter, "Tributes to the legendary freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru & Sukhdev on their martyrdom day".
