Power Tariff increased in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, March 24: Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) hiked power tariff in the state ahead of the scorching summer putting additional burden on the consumers.

The power tariff was hiked by 20 paise per unit for the domestic consumers, while the electricity rate was raised by 40 paise per unit for the agriculture sector.

There was no change in the monthly minimum fixed charge and the metre rate.

After announcing this, the Commission clarified that the hike was necessary because of steep rise in coal prices and the directive by the Central Electric Regulatory Commission (CERC).
