Congress protests against Land Bill in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, March 24: Protesting the controversial land acquisition bill, the Congress workers on Tuesday staged a march here. Later, the protest turned violent after they clashed with police.

The Chandigarh police resorted to water cannons to disperse the crowd, who tried to cross the barricade.

They shouted slogans against the BJP for bringing an anti-farmer land bill. They alleged the Centre saying, an inch of land belonging to the Indian farmers will be given to the corporates.

The BJP is facing a tough challenge from all the opposition parties on the land bill. All the parties including the ally of the ruling BJP have been united against the government and vowed not to pass the bill in Rajya Sabha where the BJP has no majority.

Even after Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his views and clarified his stand on the land bill on the Radio talk, Congress succeeded to motivate the farmers against the bill.
