Tripura tops in MGNREGA Implementation

Agartala, March 26: Tripura, the third smallest state of India, has once again achieved first position in MGNREGA project. Tripura has created average 80 man days in the financial year 2014-15, followed by Maharashtra at second position creating 51 man days and Andhra Pradesh at third position creating 45 man days.

The Centre has finalised the sanction of MGNREGA for Tripura in the financial year 2015-16. A total of 5,28,58,932 man days have been sanctioned for Tripura. At present period wage of per man day is 155 rupees in the state. On this account, the Central Government will sanction 1448 crore rupees to Tripura. If state government increases the wage rate from 1st of April then the Centre will sanction more amount of money.

"This financial year we had Rs. 752, 43, 15,000. This is total availability of funds. Till now we have spent 765, 80, 55, 000. We have spent around 102% of total funds", said CK Jamatia, Additional Secretary, Tripura.
