Uproar continues over Power Tariff Hike, House adjourned till Monday

Bhubaneswar, March 27: The uproar continued in Odisha assembly over the issue of power tariff hike forcing the Speaker Niranjan Pujari to adjourn the House till Monday.

When the House began, the opposition members created ruckus demanding rollback of the decision announced by the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) on Tuesday.

The Congress MLAs shouted slogans and waved banners in protest of the move that will put additional burden on the state domestic consumers during the summer season.

The ruling BJD also created a noisy scene in the House displaying placards against Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. They alleged that the Congress and BJP supported the decision of the company that refused to sponsor the Aahar scheme launched by the state government for poor.

They later staged a dharna under the statue of Gandhi against the decision of the MCL.
