Maneka Gandhi pitches Reservation for Women in Police

New Delhi, March 30: Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has pitched 33 per cent reservation for women in Police forces citing the move as of the key steps to stop violence against women in India.

In a letter to Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Maneka has requested to take up the issue of giving 33 quota for women in police forces with all the state governments so that the violence against women can be minimised.

It can be noted that the Union government has announced 33 per cent reservation for women in police forces at lower level in seven union territories including Delhi.
