President confers Padma Awards to Dignitaries

New Delhi, March 30: President Pranab Mukherjee conferred the prestigious Padma awards to several dignitaries from various fields for their contribution to India. The awards were presented at the Rashtrapati Bhawan today.

While Veteran BJP leader LK Advani, Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal and Swami Rambhadracharya received Padma Vibhushan award at the ceremony, the Padma Bhushan award was conferred to Dr. Swapan Dasgupta (Literature and Education), David Frawley (Foreigner-Others), Bill Gates ((Foreigner-Social Work), Melinda Gates ((Foreigner-Social Work), Needamangalam Gopalaswami (civil service), Saichiro Misumi (Foreigner-Others), Sudha Raghunathan (Art), Harish Narendra Salve (Public Affairs), Satpal (sports), Dr. Ashok Seth (Medicine), Rajat Sharma (Literature and Education) and Prof. Khadg Singh Valdiya (Science and Engineering).
