Bhubaneswar, March 30: Bowing down to the demand of Opposition parties, the state government on Monday decided to file a review petition with the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) to roll back the power tariff hike announced last week.
Since the announcement, the government had been receiving flak from all the sections of people as the power tariff hike would put additional burden on the consumers and farmers.
This was announced by the Energy minister Pranab Prakash Das in the Assembly to bring normalcy. He said that the decision was taken for the interest of the farmers.
Over the issue, the House stalled by the opposition parties Congress and BJP who were not allowing the smooth conduct of the proceedings in past four days. The opposition members were demanding rollback of the decision.
Last week, the OERC had announced to hike power tariff by 20 paisa per unit for domestic consumers and 40 paisa per unit for agricultural sector.
