NIA files Chargesheet against 21 Persons in Burdwan Blast

Kolkata, March 30: National Investigation Agency on Monday has filed a chargesheet against 21 persons, including 4 Bangladeshi nationals, before the Court of NIA Special Judge in Kolkata in connection with the  blast at Bardhaman on October 2, 2014.

Those named in the charge sheet have been accused for their involvement in the conspiracy by Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen-Bangladesh (JMB) referred as "a proscribed terrorist organisation in Bangladesh to overthrow the existing government in Bangladesh through violent terrorist acts" by the NIA.

Of the 21 persons named in the charge sheet,13 are in custody while eight are absconding. While 18 persons have been arrested by NIA and other investigating agencies in the case, 13 are named in the charge sheet filed on Monday.

Of the remaining five, NIA has urged the Court that Badrul Alam Mollah, arrested in connection with the case be "discharged" from the case.

"Few sections have been added in the charge sheet. Charge sheet has been given against 13 people. Warrant of issue has been asked for 8 persons. Two persons have been declared on non charge sheets-one of them is Badrul Alam and the other one is Khaled Mohammad", said Ramdulal Manna, Lawyer.
