SC Notice to LK Advani, Joshi in Babri Masjid Demolition Case

New Delhi, March 31: Veteran BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi were issued notice by the Supreme Court on Tuesday seeking their response to a petition filed against the verdict of Allahabad High Court that had given clean chit to them from the charges in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

The apex court has issued the notice to 18 others including Union Minister Uma Bharti and Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh in the case.

The notice was sent on the basis of a petition filed by Haji Mahboob Ahmad challenging the 2010 verdict delivered by Allahabad High Court in the 22-year-old land dispute case.

The court on May 20, 2010 had given a landmark judgment reliving Advani and Joshi from the conspiracy charges in the case.
