Odisha Bandh observed against Power Tariff Hike

Bhubaneswar, March 31: The 12-hour state-wide bandh called by the Power Consumers' Federation (Bidyut Upabhokta Mahasangh) was observed today against the power tariff hike announced by the OERC last week.

The stir was supported by all the opposition parties including Congress, BJP, labour Unions, and civil societies demanding rollback of the decision. They also demanded the CAG audit into the financial irregularities of the power distribution companies.

The protesters stalled the state capital opposing the power hike. They were alleging chief minister Naveen Patnaik of showing favour on the power distribution firms.

The protesters were staging demonstrations in front of the block offices, district headquarters and electricity offices in the state.
