Aahar Scheme Launched in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, April 01: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik launched "Aahar Scheme" on the auspicious day of Utkal Diwas to provide meal at Rs 5 for poor class in the state capital.

Despite the huge criticism from the opposition parties and withdrawal of the firms like Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), NALCO and Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) denying to extend financial support for the programme, Naveen went ahead to launch this to woo the poor people who can avail the meal at Rs 5 in the urban areas.

Many firms have been approached to provide the lunch to poor at Rs 5 in different towns of the state. In Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) will sponsor the programme.
