Committee recommends Reopening of 26 Closed Mines, Odisha Gov to Decide Soon

Bhubaneswar, April 04: The inter-departmental committee on Saturday recommended the reopening of 26 mines in Odisha. The state government will take a final call in this matter very soon.

The panel chaired by the Development Commissioner UN Behera gave a thumbs up to the reopening of the closed mines including 18 iron ore mines under the new provisions of Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation) Amendment Act, 2015.

The mining operations were suspended on the basis of the Supreme Court order last year.
