Naveen gets Relief as SLP in Talabira II Coal Block Allocation Case Rejected

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, April 06: In a huge relief to Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik, the Supreme Court on Monday rejected a special leave petition (SLP) that sought summon against him in the Talabira II coal block allocation in the multi-crore scam.

Justice V Gopal Gowda and Justice C Nagappan turned down the petition and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the petitioner.

On March 11, the petition was filed seeking summon against Naveen Patnaik for allegedly favouring Hindalco owned by Birla Group in the allocation of Talabira II Coal block in Sundargarh district on Odisha.

In the Talabira II coal block allocation case, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with five others including Birla Group chief and former Coal secretary PC Parakh had been summoned as accused by a special CBI court in Delhi.
