Saina Nehwal skips Singapore Open Badminton

New Delhi, April 07: After losing to former World No 1 Li Xuerui of China in the semi-finals of the Malaysian Open, Indian ace Saina Nehwal will not play the Singapore Open Super Series badminton tournament. She will continue practice.

Meanwhile, PV Sindhu will not be available for the tournament.

However, new badminton sensation of India Kidambi Srikanth will lead the nation in place of World No 1 Saina. He won the Swiss Grand Prix Gold and India Super Series last month. He will face Vietnam's Tien Minh Nguyen whom he had defeated at the last edition.

Indonesia Masters champion HS Prannoy will meet Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong in the opening round.

In women's singles category, only PC Thulasi will be playing for India. She will take on Line Kjaersfeldt of Denmark. Similarly, 2010 CWG champions Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa will face Go Ah Ra and Yoo Hae Won of Korea in women's doubles.
