Panel to decide Quantum of Minerals to be transported in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, April 07: The Odisha government has formed a task force on mining to prevent theft of minerals in the state. The panel will form a sub-committee to decide the quantum of minerals to be transported from the mining area.

The sub panel will submit its report to the government within 15-20 days.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting of the task force at the state secretariat on Tuesday. At the meeting, it was decided that another squad will be set up to prevent the theft of minerals and iron ore in the state.

The Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) survey will be conducted on the remaining 148 iron ore and manganese ore mines in the state. As per the recommendations by the task force, the lease holders of these mines will have to complete the survey within 6-9 months.

Earlier, the survey was conducted on the 39 mines following the recommendations of Justice Shah Commission probe.
