Big B Bachchan gets Padma Vibhushan

New Delhi, April 08: Bollywood Big B Amitabh Bachchan on Wednesday was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian honour of India. His entire family members were present at the ceremony.

Besides Bachchan, President Pranab Mukherjee conferred the prestigious award to Prince Karim Aga Khan, senior Supreme Court advocate Kottayan K Venugopal and philanthropist D Veerendra Heggade, who is the administrator of the famous Dharmasthala Jain temple in Karnataka, at Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan today.

The President also awarded Assamese Filmmaker Jahnu Barua and computer scientist Vijay Bhatkar with Padma Bhushan. Similarly, Hockey player Saba Anjum, women cricketer Mithali Raj, economist Bibek Debroy, top Chartered Accountant T V Mohandas Pai and musician Ravindra Jain were honoured Padma Shri.

At the event, big faces including Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal were present.
