Wheat, Pulse import Stopped in Odisha from Today over VAT issue

Bhubaneswar, April 09: The Odisha traders union decided to stop importing wheat and pulse after the discussion with the state government failed over the value-added tax (VAT).

The Union leaders demanded the state government to exempt the VAT on the essential items like wheat and pulses. However, no solution was found out at the meeting on April 7 between the Trader Union Leaders and the Finance, Food, Supplies and Consumer Welfare secretaries and commercial tax commissioner.

If the import will be stopped, the prices of the products like Wheat and Pulses will rise for which the consumers will have to bear extra burden in the coming day.
