Satyam Scam: Raju, Nine others sent to 7 Yrs in Jail

Hyderabad, April 10: Founder of Satyam Computer Services B Ramalinga Raju was sentenced to seven years in jail in the multi-crore accounting fraud case. The Special CBI court in 

Hyderabad slapped a fine of Rs 5 crore on him and his brother B Rama Raju in the scam as the penalty.

Yesterday, Raju along with nine others were found guilty of cheating, forgery, criminal conspiracy and breach of trust. He had appealed the court for lighter sentence on medical ground. Already, he had spent 23 months in prison during the trial.

Nine other are B Rama Raju, who is the former Managing Director of Satyam, another brother B Suryanarayana Raju, former Chief Financial Officer Vadlamani Srinivas, former PwC auditors Subramani Gopalakrishnan and T Srinivas, former employees G Ramakrishna, D Venkatpathi Raju and Ch Srisailam and former internal chief auditor of Satyam V S Prabhakar Gupta. They were also sentenced to seven years in jail.

The court also slapped a fine of 25 Lakh on Vadlamani Srinivas, Subramani Gopalakrishnan,T Srinivas, Raju's another brother B Suryanarayana Raju, former employees G Ramakrishna, D Venkatpathi Raju and Ch Srisailam and former internal chief auditor VS Prabhakar Gupta.
