NCP Candidate Suman Patil wins Tasgaon by-polls in Maharashtra

Sangli, April 15: Former Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil's wife Suman Patil won the Tasgaon by-polls. She defeated the BJP candidate and eight others with a huge margin. She received more than 1.31 lakh votes in the election.

Following the death of NCP leader RR Patil, the assembly seat was lying vacant. His wife Suman Patil contested the by-polls against nine candidates.

NCP leader Patil passed away on Feb 16 this year following prolonged illness. He had won the Tasgaon-Kavathe Mahankal assembly seat for the sixth time in Oct 2014 assembly polls in Maharashtra.
