Yemen War: UN Special Envoy to Yemen resigns

New York, April 16: The special envoy of the United Nations to Yemen Jamal Benomar has resigned from his post after he failed to bring peace in the war-torn country. He was under pressure to step down over his failure to perform his duty well.

He failed to end the crisis in Yemen. The situation worsened in the country after Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes against Houthi rebels who have occupied major areas of the country and forced the President to flee.

Over 700 people have been killed so far in the ongoing war in Yemen. The death toll will rise if conflict will not end and the normalcy will not be brought.
