Delang Railway Station ransacked over Death of Youth

Delang, April 17:  The irate locals vandalised the Delang railway station reacting strongly to the death of a youth, who fell down from a express train at the station last night.

The locals damaged the properties of the station at the premises and set one compartment of the Pur-Barbil express train on fire at the station.

According to reports, the deceased was identified as Ratnakar Chhatoi of Guliapada village under Delang police station limits. He died after falling from the express train at the station at 7.50 pm last night.

This incident triggered violence as hundreds of locals rushed to the station and damaged the furniture, posters and chairs of the station, laying the dead body on the railway track till morning.

Following the information, the railway police rushed to the spot. However, the locals did not allow them to hand over the dead body to the police.

Today morning, other locals staged a rail roko agitation at the station demanding stoppage of the puri-barbil express at Delang. They have been demanding this for last three years. They also demanded compensation to the kins of the victim.
