Names of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi dropped from Hindi Diwas Awards

New Delhi, April 21: In another move to remove the Nehru-Gandhi family names in the centrally-sponsored projects, schemes and programmes, the NDA government has dropped the names of Indira Gandhi and her son Rajiv Gandhi from the annual Hindi Diwas awards.

Earlier, the Hindi Diwas awards were named after former Prime Ministers Indiara Gandhi and Rahjiv Gandhi. With the latest deciison by Modi government, the Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha Puraskar and Rajiv Gandhi Rashtriya Gyan-Vigyan Maulik Pustak Lekhan Puraskar were replaced by Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar and Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar respectvely.

The order was issued on March 25 and sent to all the states, union territories, the PMO, ministries and all the departments about the changes.
