Govt cancels Foreign-Funded NGOs

New Delhi, April 28: The union government has cancelled the licences of around 9000 NGOs, receiving the foreign funds, for violation o Foreign Contribution Regulation Act.

Earlier, notices are issued to at least 10,343 NGOs for not filling their annual returns for the year 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12.

However, only 229 replied out of 10,343 NGOs. Later, the registration of the NGOs was cancelled for not responding to the government.
