Haryana Minister calls Farmers Cowards, draws Flak

New Delhi, April 29: BJP leader and Haryana agriculture minister OP Dhankar drew huge flak from all quarters for his remarks over farmers calling them cowards who opt for suicide and leave their families alone to face the crisis.

Reacting to his statement, Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the mask of the BJP was exposed. The party, which is on the way to snatch the land from the farmers, has such opinion on them.

JDU leader Sharad Yadav called Dhankar an insane. He said that the government should find out the solution to the farmers issue or else the number of suicide will increase across the country.

Dhankar in a statement yesterday said that the state government would not support the families of farmers who commit suicide as they are cowards and run away from their responsibility.

Justifying his statement, he said that suicide is a crime according to Indian constitution. If a farmers commits suicide, is committing a crime, and he should not be given any compensation as he is not ending his life, but putting the life of his family members in trouble and complexity.
