Quota raised for SC/ST Students in Odisha Higher Education

Bhubaneswar, April 30: In order to play dalit and tribal cards, Odisha government has raised quota for SC/ST students in the higher education to 38.75%. This will come with effect from the academic year 2015-16 in the state.

Earlier, 12% quota was for the SC students and 8% was for ST students in the state-run educational institutions.

As per the new notification, the reservation was increased to 22% for SC and 16.25% for ST students in the state. With the increase more students from these dalits and tribal communities will get admissions into educational and professional courses.
