Indian Hockey Team gear up for Test Series against Japan

New Delhi, April 30: The Indian Men Hockey team is all set for the upcoming Test series against Japan, which will be held between 3rd May and 9th May in Bhubaneswar.

Practicing hard at the MDC National Stadium in the on-going preparation camp, both players and coaching staff are working on various team-combinations and strategies to utilise all the players and bring maximum performance out of them.

"Yeah we are doing well in the preparation. Like we are started our camp on the 22nd and scoring great. And itís really experienced playing in Japan because I think we have played them in Asia Cup 2013 was the last. We want to play more games with all the countries so that we can learn more about the game and get to know about the game. So, it would be good chance better games with all the teams", said Nikkin Thimmaiah, Forward.

When asked to Thimmaiah on whether the Test series would be a testing ground for the World League in June, he said, "Definitely. Because every game is a preparation game and you got to show your talent and and you got to show how good you are on the pitch like you play well in the series as well as the Olympics which is coming up".

The Test series will be an easy walk for India before the World League and they would want to stamp their authority in front of the home crowd.

"See we do not know what Japan is preparing from their point of view. And we would be playing good, we know that. But I think we have to take it serious and do good.  Yeah there are quite few places we have to improve and we are going to do that. Like you asked about the defence, we are going to do good in that", he added.
