Andhra Police arrest 11 Maoists

Hyderabad, May 06: The Andhra Pradesh police arrested eleven members of the banned Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Janashakti faction in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.

A police team led by DSP BV Ramana Murthy arrested the Maoists and seized some documents and other materials from them.

They have been booked under sections 121A (sedition) and 120B of the Indian Penal Code.

CPI-ML (Janashakti) leaders and workers had been active for the last few years in the district under the leadership of Kura Rajanna.

"The members of Janashakti group, including Rajanna, had gathered at the residence of Mohan Reddy, seeking to rebuild the party and establish dalams (armed squads), besides procuring arms and collecting funds.A police team raided and arrested 11 Janashakti group, the ultras and seized some documents and other materials from them", said A Ravi Krishna, SP.
