Draupadi Murmu appointed New Jharkhand Governor

Bhubaneswar, May 13: Former Odisha minister Draupadi Murmu was appointed as the new Governor of Jharkhand. She is the first tribal woman leader from the state to get the top post as the Governor.

The President of India Pranab Mukherjee appointed Murmu yesterday replacing Syed Ahmed, who was appointed as Governor of Manipur.

Murmu was elected twice on BJP ticket from Rairangpur Assembly constituency.

Along with Murmu, Governors were appointed for four states in the north-east region and two were transferred.
