PM Modi reaches Xi'an, receives Warm, Traditional Welcome

Xi'an (China), May 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Xi'an, his first stop in China which is also the hometown of President Xi Xinping. PM Modi was received by Governor of Shaanxi Province, Lou Qinjian, at the Xiangyang International Airport. PM Modi who was attired in saffron Kurta, Nehru jacket and an orange scarf was welcomed in an enthusiastic and traditional manner by Chinese dancers.

In Xi'an, PM Modi will hold talks with President Xi. He will also visit the Terracotta Army museum, the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and other attractions across the city. He will be accorded a traditional Tang Dynasty welcome ceremony, before departing for Beijing at night.

In Beijing, the PM will hold talks with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. He is also expected to sign a number of agreements with China. He will depart for Shanghai, the final destination in China, later in the day.

On Saturday, Modi will hold a meeting with Chinese CEOs, before attending an India-China business forum. Modi will then attend a reception hosted by the Indian community in the city, before departing for the second leg of his tour to Mongolia.
