Draupadi Murmu sworn-in as Jharkhand Governor

Ranchi, May 18: BJP leader and former Odisha minister Draupadi Murmu took over the charge as the Governor of Jharkhand this morning. She was administered oath by the Jharkhand high court chief justice Virendra Singh at the swearing-in ceremony.

Murmu is the first tribal woman leader from Odisha to have been appointed for the Governor post. She replaced Syed Ahmed, who was appointed as the Governor of Manipur to complete his term.

Before leaving for Ranchi from Rairangpur yesterday, Murmu said, "It is not a post, but a responsibility for me".
